Vinyl stickers is a loose term to describe many types of stickers. Technically if the substrate that the sticker is made out of is vinyl, then it is a vinyl sticker. Here at Inbloom Stickers we make a very particular type of vinyl sticker; a die cut vinyl sticker. We don’t use any inks or dyes in our process. We make everything on pre-colored Oracal 651 vinyl. Taking it even further, we only make one type of die cut vinyl sticker and it is probably the most difficult of all types of vinyl stickers to manufacture. Oddly, this is all we do. We don’t make anything else or any other type of sticker.
Why is our process the hardest? Starting with the artwork, we have to create not only a creative piece of art that somebody would like to put on their car window, but it has to be done all in one color with no shading, fine lines or have too much detail. The inside parts of all our artwork need to be hand picked out, or “weeded”, with tweezers or a sharp tool. For example our Regular Woody Surf Wagon Sticker has about a dozen “picks” in it. It may not seem like a big deal when making one or two at a time, but when we make a new sticker we make thousands at a time. Picking that many stickers is mentally exhausting and physically painful on your hands and eyes after awhile!
Most people or companies that offer this type of die cut sticker make them to order. This means that you go online, pick out the design and color you want and then they make it on a small machine called a plotter. Then they pick the sticker, add the application tape and then they ship it off to you. At Inbloom Stickers we mass produce everything ahead of time so when you order it, we already have it done and ready to go. We make our stickers in up to eleven colors through a totally different process than the individually made plotter stickers are made. For each design we have a metal die made of the artwork and the design is “stamped” out. Instead of a blade slowly cutting the design into the vinyl, it is quickly stamped out in just a second or two. Our beast of a machine stamps out hundreds of this design into a roll of vinyl, then we pick the whole roll, then we apply the application tape to the whole roll and then we cut the stickers to size. All of this is done on three large machines. The picking process is all done by hand of course, but the rest of the process is mostly done by our custom made machines. Another added bonus is that our unique production process also allows us to add our unique chrome border which no plotter machine can duplicate.
So whether you call them vinyl stickers, car window stickers or just decals, vinyl stickers are all we do and we take it very seriously.
